About Us

Our Why

There must be a better way!

Our medical care system is broken. The United States ranks 37th in the world in terms of quality of care and first in terms of cost of care. One of the largest causes of this is the fragmentation of care. There is no unified or universal system; the left hand doesn’t know what the right hand is doing or how it is being done. This complicates care delivery for medical professionals and makes everyday caregiving next to impossible.

Caregiving is public health issue. The number of caregivers that is needed is growing as the US population lives longer. Approximately 17% of the US population provides care for another person and more than 20% of adults aged 45-64 expect to provide care in the next two years. That’s well over 16 million new Americans in the next two years that will provide informal, everyday care to someone else.

For the majority of everyday caregivers, the care that they provide will be done in addition to their current jobs. This amounts to an additional part-time job over and above their normal responsibilities. As a result of this added burden, caregivers experience a lot of stress from their caregiving activities. The stress, in turn, causes some serious medical conditions like stroke and heart attacks.

The bottom line is that we are asking more and more people to navigate a fragmented medical system and to provide care to a growing population of people at great cost to themselves (financially, medically, and psychologically). And, we are asking caregivers to provide this care in a way that is not supported by any part of the medical care system.
